Amir Yazdanyar, MD, PhD
Retina Group of New England is excited to welcome our new associate, Dr. Amir Yazdanyar.
Dr. Yazdanyar earned his PhD in Molecular and Cellular Biology, and completed an ophthalmology residency at SUNY Downstate in Brooklyn, NY. He then served as a Vitreoretinal Fellow at the University of California, Davis.
Before joining RGNE, Dr. Yazdanyar served as the Director of the Retina Service at SUNY Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse. In this capacity, he continues to train the next generation of medical students and ophthalmologists.
Dr. Yazdanyar has been involved in many research projects in the field of retina. He has published multiple peer-reviewed scientific papers and book chapters, and has given lectures nationally and internationally. He is the recipient of numerous regional and national awards, including SUNY Chancellors Award for Research Excellence, Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology Foundation/Retina Research Foundation/Lawrence Travel Award, and the Association of University Professors of Ophthalmology/Research to Prevent Blindness Resident and Fellow Research Award. In addition, he was awarded the prestigious Raymond R. Margherio Award at the Retina Society meeting in 2018.
Dr. Yazdanyar is a board certified ophthalmologist and vitreoretinal surgeon. He is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, and American Society of Retina Specialists. He has shown consistent commitment to his patients, and is devoted to providing outstanding medical and surgical care for those with vitreoretinal disorders.
